The author becomes intrigued by a dollhouse belonging to a friend named Marjorie that is home to Mr. George Abihad Wolsen, his wife Marie, and their baby Jackie. Mr. Wolsen is an author and spends each day writing articles on his typewriter. Each day he receives many rejection slips in the mail and sends his articles out again. He writes a book for a contest, wins the prize, and becomes a famous author. Marjorie herself and her brother and sister also publish their own newspaper, The Monthly Post.
