Nannette Goes to Visit Her Grandmother
by Josephine Scribner Gates
Boston: Houghton Mifflin
1915. 53 p.
Good condition, especially for a book over 100 years old. No jacket. Pages are clean. Covers show some scuffing, edges worn with worn corners. Six colored photographic images show dolls in various situations. Nanette walks to her Grandmother’s house, helping some animals along the way, and inadvertently picks up Jocko’s little daughter. Then Nanette gets lost, but the animals and Jocko find her. They help her find her way, and she finally discovers Jocko’s daughter’s hiding place. At Grandmother’s, Nannette finds a little chick with a broken leg that she nurses back to health. Periwinkle becomes a close companion and pet until he grows up into a rooster. She also watches a family of birds raise their babies.
